Cemex wins US$48m road contract in Panama

Mexican cement maker Cemex, won a US$48m contract to build a road in Panama.  The information was provided by Panamanian builder Constructora Urbana (Cusa), which will carry out the contract jointly with the Panamanian unit of Cemex, Cemex Panama.  The road to be built is 10.5 km long and connects the capital Panama City with one of the bridges on the Panama Canal.  The road is considered to be among the priorities of the Panamanian incumbent President, Mireya Moscoso.  Cemex Panama will provide 47,000 cu m of concrete for the road. The concrete will be supplied by the plant Cemex Concretos, in Monterrey, northeastern Mexico.  Cemex Panama has been present in the country since 1994, when Cemex acquired the state-run cement maker Cemento Bayano.
