Swiss Holcim to Invest Euro 2.8m in its Beloizvorski facilities
21 January 2004

Holcim will invest 5.5 mln Bulgarian levs (Euro2.8m) in its Bulgarian subsidiary, cement maker Beloizvorski Cement in 2004, the managing director of Beloizvorski Cement, Todor Kostov, said on January 20, 2004.  The bulk of the funding will be invested by February 2004 when Beloizvorski Cement is scheduled to complete planned repair and resume cement production. The money will be spent on the repair of Beloizvorski Cement's boiler and on the introduction of a tyre incineration facility, Kostov said. Beloizvorski Cement launched a Euro 2.3m filter and a monitoring system for dust and gas emissions in mid-2003. The new equipment reduced the company's dust emissions eightfold. Beloizvorski Cement has a 20 per cent share on the domestic cement market. The company has a production capacity of 850,000t of clinker or some one million tonnes of cement.
