07 June 2003

Holcim (Slovensko) a.s., part of Holcim Group, has placed an order with FLSmidth A/S for modernisation and upgrading of the Rohoznik cement plant, about 40km north of Slovakia’s capital Bratislava.

Worth around DKK185m, (EUR25m), the contract will be taken to income successively until commissioning in the summer of 2004.

"We are particularly pleased with this contract. Besides being won in a hard-pressed market, it has given us access to a region that our Czech and German competitors consider their home market," says CEO Frank Gad, FLSmidth.

The scope of the contract is to expand production capacity of one of the Rohoznik facility’s two cement production lines from 2,000 to 3,500tpd of clinker. Following the modernisation, this line will handle the entire grey cement plant production.

The contract includes a new raw material store and modernisation of an existing store by FLSmidth Materials Handling, an ATOX raw mill including a MAAG gear unit, an SF Cross-Bar clinker cooler, modernisation of the kiln, a preheater and bag filters, in addition to technical assistance and commissioning of the production line.
