Cement production in the Ukraine in March 2012 grew by 7% compared to March 2011 to 620,000t, the country’s state statistics service has said.

Cement output in the January-March 2012 period came to 1.28Mt, which is 3.5% up YoY.

Last year, cement production rose 11.2% compared to 2010, to 10.52Mt.

Earlier Ukrcement CEO, Petro Lopatyev, forecast that Ukrainian cement factories would be able to produce 10.9Mt of cement in 2012, representing an increase of 4% on 2011. However, he also said that the current year's forecast for a fall in construction work could lead to a fall in cement production.
