USA: TXI sells Missouri City aggregate terminal

Texas Industries Inc has announced the sale of its aggregate rail distribution terminal and associated assets located in Stafford, Texas, to Lex Missouri City, LP.

The transaction included the sale of approximately 154 acres of land, with rail connection to the Union Pacific Railroad, and the sale of related assets used to receive and distribute aggregates to construction projects in the southwest Houston area. TXI will continue to operate its aggregate distribution terminal located in Katy, Texas, west of Houston.

"This transaction demonstrates TXI's commitment to evaluate and maximise the performance of all of our assets. It also enhances our ability to fully benefit from the recovery in construction activity in our markets," stated Jamie Rogers, vice president and chief operating officer.

With operating subsidiaries in six states, TXI is a major producer of cement in Texas and California. TXI is also a major supplier of stone, sand, gravel and expanded shale and clay products.
