A new cement plant by Suhgd Cement, situated in north Tajikistan, has been officially inaugurated in the presence of Gul Sherali, the country’s Minister of Energy and Industry.
The official opening took place following two months of successful test runs. The new plant has a capacity of 100,000tpa with plans to increase volumes to 1Mta.
Currently there are three small scale cement producers operating in the country with a combined active capacity of 0.53Mt. In September last year, Juaxin Gayur Cement also began production of a 1Mta cement plant which is expected to be launched in autumn 2013.
