Bali APEC construction projects boost Holcim Indonesia sales

Despite some parts of Indonesia recently witnessing a slowdown in sales this year, Holcim’s local sales have been boosted by construction growth in Bali ahead of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference to be held on the island later this year.

“Nationally, this year’s cement sales growth has tended to slow down but we have been able to take advantage of construction growth in Bali,” Holcim vice president Juhans Suryantan, told Antara news agency.

He said the company would continue to take the opportunity offered by hotel development ahead of the APEC conference which will be held in October this year.

“Even sales growth in Bali this year is far above other regions. More infrastructure development projects have been carried out ahead of the APEC summit,” Juhans said.

In the first half of 2013, Holcim’s Indonesian sales rose 7.5 per cent to 4.01Mt compared to the same period of last year.
