Cemex invested EUR4.4m in the construction of a new clinker silo in its Lloseta works, Spain. The new facility is designed with sustainability in mind and includes the latest emissions control systems, with hermetic closures, dust extraction filters. The silo is 27.5m (dia) x 44m high and has a storage capacity of 25,000t.

The managing director of Cemex in Baleares, José Antonio Cabrera, said the investment fell "within the programme of environmental improvements in production by Cemex, whose priorities include technological innovation in equipment and filtration systems, and alternative fuel facilities.

"This new facility has an environmental objective because it is essentially a fully enclosed storage for clinker to prevent fugitive emissions and any nuisances that may entail,” he added.
