Loma Negra has Loma Negra approved the construction of a new cement plant in San Juan, according to the Argentine cement producer’s manager, Osvaldo Schütz.

While the company had shelved the project, which was to start this year, following the strong protest of the local Pocito population, Mr Schütz said the plant would be built but did not specify the exact location. Construction on the 2000tpd works would start in 2014 and take 30 months to build.

Loma Negra is Argentina’s leading cement company with a strong presence across the country. The firm operates eight cement plants with a total production capacity of 8.73Mta.
