FLSmidth establishes Colombian office

FLSmidth establishes Colombian office
19 February 2014

FLSmidth is expanding its operations on the Colombian market through the establishment of a new office in the city of Barranquilla in the northern part of the country.

“The new office that opened on 1 January 2014 will bring FLSmidth even closer to its customers on the Colombian market and strengthen the local service offerings,” FLSmidth said in a statement.

The company also added that over the last decade, the Colombian economy has been on an upward spiral due to improvement in the security situation, political stability and a growing middle class in the country. These trends are reflected in Colombia’s cement market which is expected to generate continued opportunities for new cement projects, operation and maintenance contracts and service activities in the coming years. In the longer term, Mineral Processing and Material Handling opportunities are also likely to develop as Colombia is rich in mineral deposits.

FLSmidth has been serving the Colombian cement industry for the last several years with a good deal of sales, upgrade and maintenance projects. During 2007, FLSmidth supplied all services including engineering, project management, training and commissioning as well as major machinery and auxiliary equipment for Cementos Argos' Cartagena plant in Colombia.
