Société des Ciments de Sigus (SCS) has received bids from French, Danish and Chinese bidders to build its new cement works in Oum-El-Bouaghi, Algeria.
The EUR350m project will see the construction of a 2Mta cement works, which is part of the investments planned by Groupe Industriel des Ciments d’Algerie (GICA).
A site survey of the 119ha plot has been carried out and the authorities have given SCS the go-ahead to start work in terms of earthworks and securing the site. Commissioning of the new works is expected in 2017.
