US seven-month shipments reach 48.5Mt – preliminary data

Total Portland and blended cement shipments in the US and Puerto Rico for the seven months to the end of July 2014 reached 48.537Mt, preliminary data from the US Geological Survey (USGS) shows. Of the total, domestic supplies amounted to 44.672Mt while imports were 3.865Mt.

In July 2014 alone, total shipments were 9.018Mt, comprising 8.242Mt domestically-produced cement and 776,071t of imports.

Clinker production during the January-July 2014 period was 40.898Mt.
