JSW to make switch to Portland Slag Cement, India
26 September 2014

JSW Cement Ltd will be completely switching over to the production of Portland Slag Cement (PSC), its CEO, Anil Kumar Pillai, has revealed.

Speaking to local reporters, Pillai said slag cement was “ideally” suited to both infrastructure and housing constructions “We have 6Mta of cement production capacity and will be producing only this variety of cement,” he added.

The price for the product has been fixed in the range of INR275-325/bag of PSC. The company is expecting an increase in demand for slag cement in view of an increased focus on infrastructure projects by the new Central government as well as some state governments.

"The AP [Andhra Pradesh] government has issued an order about a week ago mandating use of only Portland slag cement in all Government constructions,’’ Pillai said.
