Colombian cement market expands 4.4 % in April

In April 2015 there was a 4.4 per cent YoY rise in cement dispatches in Colombia. Some 0.999Mt of grey cement reached domestic customers, according to the latest figures by the national statistics service, DANE.

Nariño led the expansion seeing its sales advance by 60.7 per cent, followed by Cesar (43.8 per cent), Magdalena (34.5 per cent), Cauca (8.5 per cent) and Antioquia (7.2 per cent). Grey cement production reached 1.057Mt, a 2.7 per cent YoY increase, in April.

In the first four months of 2015, domestic dispatches advanced 6.9 per cent when compared with Jan-Apr 2014 to 3.993Mt. Again, the increase was the largest in Nariño (57.9 per cent)  with Cesar (25.9 per cent), Magdalena (19.9 per cent), Bolívar (18.5 per cent) and Antioquia (12.6 per cent) all posting double-digit rises. Production saw a 6.2 per cent rise to 4.092Mt in the same period.
