Uganda’s largest cement manufacturer has earmarked UGX86bn (US$25m) towards the plant expansion. Tororo Cement Ltd will upgrade its cement plant at Tororo, northeast of Kampala, from 1.8Mta to 3Mta with new grinding capacity
Brij Mohan Gragrani, Tororo Cement's executive director, said the new plant is expected to meet the increasing demand of cement in the region. “The expansion is proposed in view of market demand in Uganda and the neighbouring countries,” he said.
Mr Gagrani said the improvements will include the construction of more cement grinding mill, cement storage silos, rotary packers, clinker feeding system and clinker sheds.
