Tajikistan: 1.2Mta Vahdat cement plant opened

During his working visit to Vahdat on 6 September, President Emomali Rahmon officially opened LLC "Toj-China 2013" cement plant, which has a capacity of 1.2Mta.

Some 400 local professionals and workers will be provided with jobs in the factory, which works a single-shift operation. Simultaneously with the launch of the second stage of the plant, another 400 people will be provided with permanent jobs. The works plans to train and recruit local people.

The plant, which will produce 500 and 600 cement grades (primarily suited to large-scale hydropower schemes), expects to serve domestic and export markets.

With the launch of the new plant, total output in Tajikistan is forecast to rise significantly and imports are anticipated to decline.
