Pakistan: August export volumes and revenue down YoY
09 October 2015

Pakistan exported 558,049t of cement on revenues of US$32.08m in August 2015, down 42.88 and 44.36 per cent in terms of volume and revenue on a YoY basis, according to the country's Bureau of of Statistics.

Compared to July 2014, volumes rose by 18.88 per cent and revenues increased by 16.54 per cent.

Exports over the first two months of the current fiscal (beginning in July 2015) to Afghanistan
declined by 18.24 per cent to 394,500t YoY. Export to India over the July-August 2015 period also fell substantially to 100,437t, representing a fall of more than 28 per cent.

A spokesman from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association said that exports to Afghanistan are receding due to inroads being made by Iranian cement – which is also starting to penetrate the Pakistan market. On a more positive note, domestic sales are holding firm.
