The price of cement in the Kinshasa market experienced a -10.6 per cent fall. The price of a 50kg bag fell from CDF12,300 (US$13.34) to CDF11,000.
The price fall is due to a combination of factors including the low activity on building sites, particularly following Christmas and New Year as well as a scarcity of bank notes in circulation. Normal sales of cement reach around 50-100 bags per day.
