Vietnam: second phase of Song Lam cement plant starts next month

Hoang Phat Vissai Group, one of the biggest cement groups in Vietnam, will start construction of the second phase of Song Lam cement plant with an investment of VND9.5trn ($422.22m) in Vietnam’s central province of Nghe An in June. The second phase with 6000tpd of clinker will be developed in the 2016-20 period.

Song Lam Cement Plant is located in Bai Son commune and was transformed from the Do Luong cement plant. The plant has a capacity of 18,000tpd of clinker and is being developed into two phases. The first phase began in 2015 and continues into 2017 with two production lines with a combined capacity of 12,000tpd of clinker.

Construction of the second phase will include clinker production line synchronisation with a capacity of 3.8Mta, the Dau Tu newspaper reported. It would also include a grinding station in Nghi Loc district, including two grinding lines with combined capacity of 3.8Mta and conveyor system with capacity of 1800tph.

At present, The Vissai owns nine clinker and cement production chains across Vietnam. Yet to be listed in the local stock market, Vissai has 12m  shares that are traded in the OTC market.
