Lucky Cement announces Karachi plant expansion

Pakistani cement producer Lucky Cement Ltd informed Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that it will be expanding the capacity of its Karachi cement works by 1.25Mta in a US$30m project. 

This is in addition to the proposed plant expansion of 2.3Mta at its works in Punjab province. This latest project, when completed, will bring the company's total capacitdy from 7.75Mta to 11.3Mta and help Lucky Cement to meet the growing cement demand in the country. Cement consumption is forecast to rise on the back of public and private construction projects as well as mega infrastructure works part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor programme.

today that keeping in view the growing demand of cement in the country on the back of public and private sector construction projects, as well as mega infrastructure development projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC); the Company has decided to increase its cement production capacity of Karachi Plant by 1.25 Mt per annum; whereby the total production capacity of the Company shall increase from the existing  7.75 Mt per annum to 11.30 Mt per annum including its proposed plant capacity addition of 2.30 Mt per annum in Punjab province. 

The project cost of the proposed increase in production capacity at Karachi Plant of 1.25 Mt per annum would be around USD 30m.
