Zimbabwe: clinker loading to be upgraded at PPC's Colleen Bawn plant
19 October 2016

ELB Engineering Services Africa (ELB) has been entered into a contract with PPC Zimbabwe to upgrade its Colleen Bawn plant's clinker loading in Zimbabwe by reducing airborne dust volumes.

ELB’s scope of supply for this project includes the design, procurement, delivery, installation and management of a complete clinker loading upgrade project. The focus of the upgrade will be environmental management to eliminate the excessively high dust volumes generated during the process of loading rail wagons and to achieve a quicker turnaround time of the complete rake. The high dust loading is as a result of the increased clinker loading requirements to service PPC’s new milling facility in Harare. The high dust volumes will be eliminated by innovative design around the integration of the de-dusting unit to the discharge of the bulk loading head.

Additionally, an increased loading rate will be achieved by the interface between the feed conveyor, weigh flask and loading head configuration.

PPC plants in Zimbabwe, Harare and Bulawayo, are supplied with clinker from Colleen Bawn. These are among the most modern in Southern Africa.
