Argentina’s cement market contracted 17.9 per cent YoY and 7.1 per cent MoM in October 2016 as 925,678t (from 1,128,015t in October 2015) of cement were delivered to domestic customers, according to the latest figures by the country’s cement association, AFCP.
However, cement producers increased their export sales by 26.6 per cent YoY and 11.2 per cent MoM from 6342t to 8032t. Meanwhile, domestic production was supplemented by 5940t of imports, which fell by 50.1 per cent YoY but increased by 21.2 per cent when compared with the previous month.
In the January-October period, domestic deliveries fell by 13 per cent YoY to 8.854Mt and cement producers experienced little relief in foreign markets as exports decreased 23.8 per cent YoY to 60,660t. Imports declined by 26.6 per cent to 15,150t.
