Semen Indonesia plant receives environmental permit

Despite protests, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has issued a new environmental permit to Semen Indonesia for its plant in Rembang.

The new plant is almost complete and although some local residents have fought its opening, many are highlighting the benefits it will provide such as 1200 jobs. Semen Indonesia has denied that the new works will damage the environment.
