08 August 2017

Holcim Indonesia has signed a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a municipal waste management facility for refuse-derived fuel (RDF) located in Cilacap, Central Java. This facility will be the first integrated MSW to RDF processing facility in Indonesia.

The collaborative effort between Holcim, the government of Central Java province, the Ministry of Public Works & Housing, the Ministry of Environment & Forestry and the Danish government is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2018. The facility will be able to provide treatment for up to 120tpd of domestic waste using bio-drying.

“To achieve our Sustainable Ambition 2030 targets, Holcim Indonesia through its business unit, Geocycle, is thriving to increase the use of alternative fuel and raw material usage, including RDF. By pioneering, designing the technology concept, and operating this facility later on, we contribute in providing innovative, sustainable and economically feasible solution to solve the MSW challenge in Cilacap Regency, a solution that can be replicated in other provinces in Indonesia,” said Heli Sastrosatomo, Legal & Corporate Affairs Director, PT Holcim Indonesia, Tbk.
