Pakistan achieves monthly sales high
08 August 2017

Pakistan achieved record monthly sales in July, increasing by 44 per cent YoY to 3.382Mt during the month led by robust growth in domestic demand.

Data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) said local sales increased by 55 per cent YoY to 2.906Mt in July, while exports remained flat at 0.476Mt during the month.

“The dispatch figures for July are most encouraging,” International News (Pakistan) quoted an APCMA’s spokesman as saying. “The industry has established a record for this month. Never before, the sector had crossed the dispatch limit of 3Mt in July,” he added.

Local dispatches from cement factories based in northern region of the country were 2.423Mt in July 2017 while exports were 0.338Mt.

South-based facilities recorded a growth in local sales to 0.483Mt in July 2017 compared to 0.352Mt a year earlier. Exports from the region, however, fell to 0.138Mt from 0.159Mt.

Although exports to Afghanistan increased 40.25 per cent YoY to 0.21Mt in July, nevertheless the major increase was offset by decline in exports to India and other countries. In July cement exports to India slid 11.61 per cent to 0.122Mt over the same month a year earlier. Export to other countries fell 18.95 per cent YoY to 0.144Mt, according to the association’s data.
