Hanson secures road project for Hinkley Point C

Hanson UK (HeidelbergCement group) has extended its involvement with EDF Energy’s Hinkley Point C project in the UK, securing a roads construction contract for the Kier Bam joint venture (JV) through its contracting division.

The contract includes supplying 40,000t of cement-bound granular material (CBGM) and 100,000t of asphalt over the next two years. The materials will be used to build access roads on site.

Hanson Contracting has also secured contracts with Laing O’Rourke, to support new accommodation campuses, which are being built to house up to 1500 construction workers.

In addition, the company is supplying the temporary access roads for the Kier Bam JV and other packages for the Bylor JV of Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke, which is responsible for the construction of the reactor buildings at the site.
