Loesche to deliver three VRMs to Sohag plant

Loesche will take part in the construction of a new 2Mta cement plant for Egypt Cement as it supplies three vertical roller mills (VRMs). The planned works is located nearly 500km south of Cairo in Sohag.

Loesche's scope of delivery includes a raw material mill with a capacity of 540tph of cement raw meal, a 350tph cement mill as well as a coal mill with an output of 45tph.

The cement mill for this order is equipped with the COPE drive (COmpact Planetary Electric Drive). The COPE drive concept was developed by Loesche and Renk especially for powerful VRMs with over 6MW of power. Six or eight water-cooled cage rotor induction engines drive the grinding table of the mill through a planetary gear. The motor pinion can be engaged or disengaged.

The Chinese Chengdu Design & Research Institute (CDI) functions as the general contractor for the project and is owned by the Sinoma Group, which specialises in the planning and construction of cement plants.
