The foundation ceremony for Popcement, an Uzbek-Chinese-Arab joint venture was held in Sherabad, Namangan region, Uzbekistan.

The project represents an investment of US$50m. The initial production capacity of the new Sherabad plant is expected to be 0.5Mta, but it is expected to increase to 1.5Mta of Portland cement from 2019.
