Cement illegally imported from India into Nepal, has been taken into police possession. During the transportation of the material to the District Police Office (DPO), local authorities were obstructed by protests from traders. Officers fired their weapons into the air to bring the situation under control, according to a report by The Himalayan Times.

A total of 33 sacks of cement were seized by the police, claims Ram Kumar Dani, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Rautahat DPO. The traders had brought the cement across the border to construct houses.
