Ohorongo Cement is to be serviced by a solar power plant that is being constructed by Gildemeister Energy Solutions GmbH is co-developer and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.
Solar development company SunEQ GmbH, Hamburg, Germany reports that it has the finance in place for the project that will see a 5MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant built in the Otjozondjupa region in Namibia for the cement company.
The solar farm, whose capacity in direct current (DC) stands at 6.5 MW, will have about 20,000 crystalline silicon modules and will use a tracking system. Commercial operation is to start at the end of the current month. SunEQ said the annual output is estimated at 14GWh.
