Government of Himachal Pradesh to approve white cement mining lease

The government of Himachal Pradesh is to approve a mining lease for the set-up of a white cement plant. FCI Aravali Gypsum and Minerals India Ltd (FAGMIL), a central public sector undertaking (CPSU) under the administrative control of the Department of Fertilisers of India’s Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers,  has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the Himachal Pradesh government for the granting of the lease.

To be built on a 108ha plot, the new white cement plant is expected to cater for demand in the northern Indian market. The lease is located near Village Nohra Dhar, Tehsil Sangrah in District Sirmour and will provided the limestone required in the production of white cement. The National Building Council for Cement and Building Materials has carried out a pre-feasibility study for the 1000tpd plant. It is expected that the works will generate 200 direct and 3000 indirect jobs.
