Procurement process begins for new Deshbandhu Group plant

Bangladesh-based Deshbandhu Group and Guangdong Power Engineering Co Ltd are now seeking project finance for their proposed 1500tpd cement plant near Dhaka. The new facility requires a total investment of US$90m. Guangdong Power Engineering has secured half of this sum from one of China’s domestic development banks, according to Inside International Industrials.

Guangdong Power Engineering will be responsible for design, procurement, construction, installation and testing, according to the terms of the agreement. As such, the company has started the procurement process for a cooling tower, compressors, blowers and preheaters amongst other equipment. The design has also been completed.

The plant is expected to pass its trial stage in mid-2020, with full operation commencing no later than the 3Q20.
