Eagle Cement faces Malabuyoc plant delay
19 June 2019

Eagle Cement Corp said the opening of its cement plant in Malabuyoc in Cebu, Philippines, will be delayed following issues in receiving the required permits for its construction.
Eagle Cement President and CEO, John Paul L Ang, said the opening of its fourth cement line will be postponed by more than six months from its original end-2020 commissioning date.

"Despite the setback, we are still targeting to sell cement in the Visayas region by end-2020 as promised," Mr Ang added. The company is now aiming to complete the facility in Cebu within the first half of 2021.

Eagle Cement broke ground for Line 4 in late 2017 to raise the company’s total cement capacity to 9.1Mt with 2Mt at the Cebu site. The project also includes the construction of port facilities and cement terminals that will supply cement to Visayas and Mindanao.
