Paper sack deliveries rise in 2018

With a slight growth of 1.2 per cent paper sack deliveries, the European paper sack industry recorded stable development in 2018.

Speaking at EUROSAC's 2019 congress, held in Ljubljana between 23-24 May, EUROSAC president, Olivier Tassel, addressed current concerns under the congress theme of 'Shaping the future of packaging'.

"Our industry is going through many trends and changes. We need to make sure that we can provide solutions that meet the needs of future market demands, especially in terms of offering various barrier functions by granting sustainability and recyclability at the same time," stated Mr Tassel as he introduced the focus of this year’s congress topics.

Krassimira Kazashka, director from the International Confederation of Paper and Board Converters in Europe (CITPA) said. "Concerning climate change, one of the EU citizens' major concerns, paper packaging as a forest-based product has a great advantage: Forests are one of the keys to reducing emissions."

Several awards were presented at the even which included Segezha receiving the silver award for its new dry-mixes industrial paper sack made from its SKE i4 paper for low weight and increased durability.

Meanwhile, Mondi launched myMondi – the only all-in-one digital customer platform for paper sacks worldwide. The platform offers  stock reports, order history and status overview, invoices overview and filtering, certificates and detailed product specifications.
