Panama improves cement quality requirements and standards

Panama’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Ramón Martínez, signed two ministerial resolutions aimed at improving the requirements and standards of cement quality, both for domestic and imported cement.

The new technical standard DGNTI-COPANIT 5-2019 of building, building materials, hydraulic cement sets out the chemical, physical and performance requirements of general and specialised cements, as well as the packaging, transportation, storage and use requirements.

The Technical Regulation DGNTI-COPANIT-90-2019 on conformity assessment for the marketing of cement, which promotes the procedure for verifying and monitoring the quality of hydraulic cements produced, imported and marketed in the country.

Following consultation and analysis, it was concluded that the country would adopt the following technical standards: ASTM C 150, ASTM C1157, ASTM C 91 and ASTM 595.
