Semen Indonesia reports 4% drop in August sales

Semen Indonesia reported a four per cent fall to 2.789Mt in total sales in August 2019 when compared with the previous year, when the company achieved sales of 2.904Mt. In July 2019 sales slipped by 2.6 per cent YoY to 2.706Mt.

Of the total, domestic sales of 2.466Mt were reported, down 5.1 per cent YoY. This follows a six per cent YoY drop in July, when sales to Indonesian customers stood at 2.354Mt. Exports advanced by 5.6 per cent YoY to 323,101t following a 29.5 per cent rise to 352,556t in July.

In addition, TLCC sales fell 30 per cent YoY to 141,520t in August 2019 and were also down when compared with the previous month, when the subsidiary achieved sales of 173,814t. A total of 125,019t were delivered to domestic customers in August, down 15.4 per cent YoY (July 2019: 122,640t, -3.1 per cent). Exports saw a 69 per cent YoY drop to 16,501t in August (July 2019: 51,175t, -41 per cent).

PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia (SBI), acquired by Semen Indonesia from Holcim Indonesia at the start of this year, saw total sales increase by 6.5 per cent YoY to 1.03Mt in August. However, domestic sales fell by 3.6 per cent YoY to 932,689t. Furthermore, the subsidiary exported 97,193t of cement in August.
