Taiwan's Asia Cement joins WCA

Asia Cement of Taiwan has joined the World Cement Association (WCA) as a corporate member. Asia Cement produces 5Mta of cement from its three cement plants in Hsinchu, Hualien and NanHwa, Taiwan. In addition the company operates storage and transportation facilities in Keelung, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualien harbours to lower its transportation costs.

"As a prominent Taiwanese cement group that shares the WCA's vision of tackling environmental issues together, we are very pleased to be joining this international platform for change alongside so many prestigious member companies from around the world," said Douglas Tng Hsu, Asia Cement's chairman. "This is an important step that enables us to continue our sustained efforts to innovate and achieve energy efficiency and environmental protection."
