Cement export from Pakistan shows mixed revenue in 1QFY20

Pakistan's cement industry earned foreign exchange revenue of US$66.77m by exporting 1.61Mt of cement between July and September 2019, compared to US$77.59m from exporting 1.78Mt of cement in same months last year, says the country's Federal Bureau of Statistics. This reflected a YoY fall of 13.9 per cent and 9.6 per cent in terms of value and quantity, respectively. However, in local currency terms, exports expanded by 9.4 per cent to PKR10.52bn (US$67.2m) during this period.

In September 2019 export revenues saw a MoM growth and it rose to US$24.62m with exports of 625,166t of cement as compared to US$16.74m from exports of 391,548t in August 2019. This translates a growth of 47 per cent and 59.7 per cent in terms of dollar value and quantity, respectively. However, when compared with data of September 2018 (US$ 29.05m at 674,681t), a negative trend of 15.3 per cent and 7.3 per cent in dollar and volume terms, respectively was reported

During this reporting period, exports to Indian remained suspended while exports to Afghanistan increased by 32.4 percent to 648,444t. The overseas export of cement fell by 17.2 per cent, but clinker exports are hovering around 100 per cent.
