Moroccan cement consumption up 12% in October

Cement demand in Morocco increased 12.1 per cent YoY to 1.355Mt in October 2019 when compared with 1.208Mt supplied in October 2018, according to data published by the country’s Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation.

The largest share, 888,724t, was delivered to the wholesale segment, followed by ready-mix concrete companies (240,608t) and the prefabricated segment (108,116t). The building market accounted for 61,398t while around 55,930t of offtake was by the infrastructure sector.

In the first 10 months of 2019 deliveries edged up by 3.6 per cent YoY to 11.401Mt, up from 11.01Mt in the 10M18.

The data were supplied by Dakhla Amenagement, Cimsud and the members of the Association Professionelle des Cimentiers (Asment Temara, Ciments de l’Atlas, Ciments du Maroc and LafargeHolcim Maroc).
