Thai cement demand up 11% in May

Domestic sales of Portland cement in Thailand increased 10.9 per cent MoM to 2Mt in May 2022 but when compared with May 2021, sales were down 16 per cent, according the Office of Industrial Economics. In the January-May 2022 period domestic sales declined 6.6 per cent YoY to 10.4Mt.

Exports
Exports in the first five months of 2022 declined 6.6 per cent YoY to 10.4Mt. Clinker exports increased 32.2 per cent yoY to 3.3Mt while exports of blended cement were up 24.2 per cent YoY to 68,300t. Both export volumes were able to offset the 38 per cent YoY contraction in the export of Portland cement to 934,200t.
