Vietnamese cement market contracts 3% in November

Cement consumption in Vietnam in November 2022 totalled 5,275,474t, down by three per cent YoY, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Of this total 1,800,848t was supplied by VICEM, representing a YoY decline of two per cent, while other VNCA members supplied 1,174,626t, down four per cent YoY. Other cement producers reported a YoY drop of four per cent to 2,300,000t.

Total exports contracted by 45 per cent to 2,510,450t when compared with November 2021, said the VNCA. Clinker exports fell by 70 per cent to 1,391,252t while cement exports decreased by 61 per cent to 1,119,198t in November 2021 when compared with the year-ago period.

In the first 11 months of 2022 total cement consumption in Vietnam reached 57.187Mt, representing a market expansion of four per cent when compared with the 11M21. VICEM sales increased by eight per cent YoY to 19.604Mt while other VNCA members reported a six per cent advance to 13.658Mt. Non-member companies saw a one per cent uptick to 23.925Mt in the 11M22 when compared with the 11M21.
