Spanish cement consumption slipped 0.1 per cent YoY to 1,278,404t in February 2026, according to Oficemen. In the 2M26 demand declined by 0.2 per cent to 2,377,256t.
Oficement has attributed the slowdown to heavy rainfall as January-February were the two wettest months in the last 47 years. In February alone, rainfall was 2.5 times the average for that month, according to the Spanish state meteorological agency, AEMET.
Exports were down by 7.4 per cent to 265,400t in February 2026 and by 9.8 per cent in the January-February period, when 542,980t were exported.
