Colombia-based Grupo Argos has announced plans to separate its businesses into two independent listed companies as part of a broader strategy to improve efficiency and enhance shareholder value.

Under the proposed structure, expected to take around 24 months, one company will focus on cement and building materials, centred on Cementos Argos, while the other will hold the group’s infrastructure and energy assets, including its stakes in concessions and utilities. The separation is intended to simplify the corporate structure, improve capital allocation and unlock value across the portfolio.

Alongside the planned split, Grupo Argos has confirmed a new leadership structure. Juan Esteban Calle, currently president of Cementos Argos, will assume the role of Grupo Argos president from April 2026, succeeding Jorge Mario Velásquez.

The company said the changes form part of a long-term transformation into a more focused and efficient organisation, following a series of portfolio optimisation measures in recent years.

Grupo Argos expects the separation to provide greater strategic clarity for each business, allowing both the cement and infrastructure segments to pursue independent growth strategies while improving transparency for investors.
