In July 2025 cement dispatches in Brazil edged up by 2.4 per cent to 6.233Mt from 6.084Mt in July 2024, reports SNIC in its latest release of monthly cement statistics.
While sales in Brazil’s largest regional market, the southeast, remained stable, up 0.6 per cent to 2.798Mt from 2.781Mt, there was 8.4 per cent growth in the northeast with dispatches rising from 1.280Mt to 1.388Mt in July 2025. The mid-west market expanded by 1.2 per cent YoY to 0.742Mt from 0.733Mt and the northern sales region by 11.7 per cent to 0.324Mt from 0.290Mt. However, in the south, sales slipped 1.9 per cent YoY to 0.981Mt from 1.000Mt as heavy rains affected the region.
While the unemployment rate fell to 5.4 per cent at the end of June, worker income fell for the second consecutive time, indicating a possible cooling of the labour market. Combined with household budgets that are under pressure, this has lowered consumer confidence. However, construction confidence was up, supported by positive assessments from residential building companies. Real estate sales increased by 4.1 per cent in the 1Q25, but new project launches contracted by 4.9 per cent – both linked to the Minha Casa, Minha Vida public housing programme, which saw a 10 per cent increase in sales but a 10 per cent drop in new launches YoY. Meanwhile, expectations in the infrastructure segment worsened.
"The resilience of sectoral sales is underpinned by positive labour market indicators, with record highs in employment and a decline in informality. However, this momentum is constrained by high household indebtedness and an outlook of persistent pressure from interest rates and inflation, alongside a recurring labour shortage. Furthermore, the geopolitical environment has deteriorated significantly regarding relations with two of our key trading partners – the United States and Argentina,” said SNIC President, Paulo Camillo Penna.
Meanwhile, exports increased by 25 per cent YoY to 5000t in July 2026 from 4000t.
