The Dominican Republic has emerged as Latin America and the Caribbean’s leading exporter of cement, lime and gypsum, according to data cited by the Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers (Adocem).
A Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs report showed regional exports of cement, lime and gypsum reached US$581.3m in 2025, with the Dominican Republic accounting for 25.4 per cent of the total, ahead of Mexico and Guatemala.
The sector has continued to contribute to export growth in 2026. Dominican exports across all sectors reached US$3.34bn in the first half of the year, up 35.1 per cent YoY, according to General Directorate of Customs data cited by the Regional Center for Sustainable Economic Strategies (CREES). Chemicals and minerals contributed US$295m, or 8.8 per cent of total exports.
Adocem said the figures highlighted the importance of maintaining a domestic industrial base capable of supplying the local market while competing internationally. The association called for policies supporting productive investment, competitiveness and improved access to export markets.
