UltraTech Cement has joined the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT), strengthening its participation in international efforts to accelerate industrial decarbonisation.

The membership was announced at a LeadIT reception involving government and non-government stakeholders in New Delhi, India, on 13 August 2026. Through the initiative, UltraTech aims to collaborate with companies and other stakeholders across sectors and regions on the transition towards net-zero emissions.

E R Raj Narayanan, business head and chief manufacturing officer of UltraTech Cement, said the company would use its participation to support the transition towards low-carbon cement and concrete through innovation and collaboration.

Per Andersson, head of the LeadIT Secretariat, said UltraTech's scale offered opportunities to drive innovation, develop new markets and increase international cooperation on industrial decarbonisation.

UltraTech has a global installed grey cement capacity of 205.5Mta and is India's largest producer of cement, ready-mix concrete and white cement. Its decarbonisation strategy includes improving energy efficiency, increasing the use of alternative fuels and raw materials, expanding renewable energy and deploying low-carbon technologies. The company has committed to achieving carbon-neutral concrete by 2050.

 

LeadIT brings together governments and companies to promote the transition of energy-intensive industries towards net-zero emissions. UltraTech is also a founding member of the Global Cement and Concrete Association.
