Grupo Estrella has expanded its cement operations in Central America with the acquisition of Cementos Fortaleza in El Salvador.

The transaction includes Cementos Fortaleza’s Acajutla plant, which has a cement production capacity of 0.35Mta. The acquisition extends Grupo Estrella’s cement presence to three countries: the Dominican Republic, Panama and El Salvador.

The Dominican Republic-based group entered the Panamanian cement market through the acquisition of Cemex Panama’s assets for US$200m, announced in October 2025. The transaction included the Cemento Bayano integrated cement plant, as well as ready-mix concrete plants, aggregates operations and other related assets.
