Cementir Holding has confirmed that its Aalborg Portland Holding subsidiary jointly submitted a binding offer with Votorantim Cimentos for the potential acquisition of CSN Cimentos.
However, Cementir said the offer expired without being accepted by seller Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN). As of 9 September 2026, neither Cementir, Aalborg Portland Holding nor any other Cementir group company had entered into a binding agreement or made any commitment concerning the Brazilian cement producer.
The clarification followed recent media reports concerning developments in the competitive sale process launched by CSN.
Cementir added that it remains interested in evaluating further opportunities in South America. The company operates in 18 countries and is a major global producer of white cement.
