Riyadh Cement Co has signed three agreements covering solar power, production digitalisation and automated cement dispatch.

Under a 25-year power-purchase agreement with Samana Energy, Riyadh Cement will buy electricity generated by a new solar installation for average annual payments of approximately SAR6m (US$1.6m), excluding VAT.

The company said the electricity would cost less than both its existing generation costs and electricity purchased from its current supplier. Samana Energy will finance, build and operate the project, leaving Riyadh Cement with no associated capital or operating expenditure. Operations are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, with savings emerging progressively from the first year.

Riyadh Cement has also awarded Tianjin Cement Industry Design & Research Institute a US$14.9m, 24-month contract for its Light House Project. The programme will apply automation, artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, predictive maintenance and energy-efficiency measures to the company’s production operations.

Separately, Portuguese supplier Cachapuz will provide logistics and dispatch automation under a one-year contract worth EUR279,000 (US$327,000). The installation will include SLV Cement logistics software, mobile and partner portals, and computer-vision systems supporting safety and compliance.
