WEG and electrical maintenance specialist Nuova Ites have installed a digital condition-monitoring system on a critical motor at an unnamed cement plant in Italy.
The installation comprises a WEGSCAN 100 monitoring unit and Cassia X2000 gateway connected to a 132kW, two-pole WEG motor driving an Atlas Copco compressor. It continuously records vibration, temperature and other indicators of mechanical and electrical condition.
Operating data can be accessed remotely by computer or smartphone, enabling Nuova Ites and plant personnel to detect abnormal behaviour and schedule maintenance before equipment failures interrupt production. The gateway provides wireless transmission and is designed to operate at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 65°C.
WEG visited Nuova Ites’ workshop in late 2025 before delivering the equipment in January 2026. The system was subsequently configured for the application and integrated into the companies’ monitoring processes.
